Its really annoying to see first world people mocking at third world people/country, instead of praising the efforts of the Indian government despite it being a developing nation. By the way Westerners, you all need to throw your glasses of stereotype. India is not just a land of snack charmers and beggers. There is lot more better than that.
Many people don't realize that it's either the bullet train or NOTHING. You can't divert these funds to some social welfare scheme as 80% of it being financed by Japan at high flexibility only meant for the HSR project.
No one is going to lend you $12 Billion @0.1% at such high flexibility (Interest payment starts after 15 years till up to 50 years) to invest in any social sector welfare scheme no matter how noble it may be. Even world bank charges anywhere between 4% to 6% interest rates on its lendings to developing economies.
And the remaining $3 Billion to be spent by India is spread over a time period of 5 to 7 years and India's social sector spending outnumbers it by a wide margin (India spends more annually on fertilizer subsidy for its farmers as a perspective)
Toilets not included, Oh wait, this will be for the India rich, who actually know what a toilet is and have them to use, unlike 87% of the rest of the country that just drops their loads on the streets. Modern life is wonderful! For some!
just had 3 derailments last month in india.meanwhile modi will spend a fortune in bullet train when same money could be used to upgrade present rail tracks bridges etc.
Carry on Government Of India. Steady Progress is needed. Don't stop for some idiots crying on Social Media. They want to travel in British Era trains, let them be. We should follow Japan and Germany not Britain or USA.
Cant you build one toilet for yourshelf..its not the duty of government to build ur toilets and all ..plz save your money instead of wasting it on useless things and you can do it yourshelf..dnt blame the government all the time..
Anyone who has been to India can tell that a bullet train should be way down on the list of priorities. Political grandstanding to appease the Nationalists I guess.
It's easy to taunt India for poverty and food crises. Well for country with 1.2 billion(consider the current number) people it's kind of a slow process to provide all basic necessities to each person and it will overcome in coming years. And that's pretty much a priority for the government. But the country also need good infrastructure simultaneously. So just think about all the aspects before commenting the same thing all the time. 😊
I hope someone is taking note of that, they were at par with India in the 1940s, but today India is light years ahead.Instead of a bullet train from China, they gave us a (sub)standard gauge tuke tuke, and they celebrated it.
First off all the tracks should be taken care off in our present system because so many precious lives we loose every year. Infact a good approach.
