Single-payer is going to happen within the next several election cycles. It's amazing how moderates and conservatives don't see how things move forward and don't want to be on the right side of history. Far more efficient system for government, medical providers and businesses who provide benefits!
The new leadership of the Democratic Party should be Franken, Sanders, Harris and Warren. They seem to be the ones fighting harder for the working class and against big interests groups.
The others need to wake up and realize that the people want progress. No more moderation withput action. Time for the old guys to progress or move out of the way.
Now we'll hear how the USA is a total failure, and can't do what other countries do. And how expensive it is - yet we already spend more than any other country, and get less. Millions have "nobody pay" - you won't hear about that from the naysayers. There is no such thing as nobody paying, costs are passed on. Bottom line, right and left wing are bought and paid for by the bloated medical establishment's lobbyists.
Sorry, NYT. I trust GovTrack's ideology scoring over yours. No way in hell is Booker to the left of Sanders. And this is a 2x Hillary 2016 voter saying this...
Sorry, but there's no way any of these Senators - not Warren, not Harris, DEFINITELY not Booker - are to the left of Bernie Sanders. #Bernie2020
That's an incredibly low percentage considering he needs them all and a bunch of Republicans to pass it.
This is what I'm confused about. This bill won't pass. I wish it would but it won't. It is symbolic and meant to be a show of progressivism for the Democrats and good PR for Bernie but he'll find out as Clinton did that these things are difficult.
here is the problem with all the "entitlement" programs. They are not means-tested - and the wealthy just get the same free medical that the poor would get. Just expand Medicaid. It is means tested, according to income, as Medicare should have been - but fair is fair they say, come one - come all.
Sponsoring this bill has little to do with the bill itself, it's an initial hand raise for those posturing for a potential 2020 Presidential run. Single Payer Healthcare will likely be a platform plank for the Democrats and sponsorship aligns those considering a run.
And...all they need now are 51 more senators and enough representatives to override a presidential veto. So far, they are 288 votes short.
Good luck with that.
