What happened to their "emergency generator"? EVERY nursing home or facility caring for the terminally ill, disabled, or aged, should be required to have emergency generators. Emergency generators have come down in costs SO drastically that for under $10,000 you can get one installed. Even home owners can get one installed in their homes. And as much as these "homes" charge to reside in them, a mandatory requirement for emergency generators for each one of these places should BE mandated!
Omg. Rumor has it the power is out so long because FL sent their transformer inventory to TX for Harvey, and did not prepare correctly for Irma. This is absolutely tragic. I heard that many seniors are sweltering in high floor apartments and cannot get out because the elevators are down.
Its hot and humid in Fl. This nursing home could very well have had a generator but you need gas to operate it and that is gone as soon as it arrives the moment a tanker arrives at a gas station, the lines form. Waited two hours in line to fill two gas cans to operate generator for short period of time. Three days, no power and counting.
Where are the generators? Where were the inspectors prior to this disaster? Don't they check to make sure that the facility has back up power? If not they better add it to their list of thing to check when they do the yearly survey!
Authorities are telling people not to have generators inside. They have found numerous people dead because of this. They don't know cause of death at nursing home, so they say. Heat related or other causes
They should have mandatory emergency generators at all nursing homes/care facility's just like hospitals. And even if its not law, common sense care would tell you that. Jerret Sodders
Shame on this facility for not putting the safety and well being of residents first. They should be fined for neglect. If they didn't have a generator they should have evacuated them from the onset.
as terrible as this is why didn't family get them out of there?? this makes me want to throw up... how could the staff and administrators let this happen and have ANYONE there. they should of been moved
This nursing home should have had generators of some sort, and the other deaths at a home that had carbondioxide deaths... why would you put a generator inside your home?
wtf.. if you knew your parents or grandparents were in this home before the storm and didn't go get them your just as a guilty a..hole.it's sad people dump them in those homes and most don't even visit them. And then be outraged when you find out how bad the living arrangements are.just saying
